Annual business expo brings out exhibitors looking to reach people

Exhibitors typically use all types of gimmicks to attract people to their booths at trade shows from contests to food.
This year at the Greater Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Business Expo, Spotlight Media brought a 12-foot film crane, which is used for sweeping panoramic shots.
“We tear it down and take it on location wherever we go,” said Laura Kubicki, the owner of Spotlight Media, a company in Winston-Salem that provides video production, Web site design and photography services.
There are 150 exhibitors showcasing their newest products and services. The event is free to the public.
Kubicki said that she and her husband, Jason, attended the expo to meet and network with other businesses because a lot of companies are starting to use more video on their Web sites and establish a presence on Twitter and Facebook to help grow their businesses.
“In a recessionary time, you really need to invest those marketing dollars but you want them targeted and telling customers what you do and who you are,” she said.
